Stunned North Shore Local Claims $4.6 Million Lotto Powerball Prize
A North Shore mother danced around her house in joy after finding out she had won $4.6 million in Lotto Powerball, says NZ Lotteries' Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.
"I'm feeling quite calm now, but I think that is because it [the win] has not quite sunk in yet," said the stunned winner, who wishes to stay anonymous.
Lotto Powerball's latest winner, who purchased her winning ticket at Hayward's Paper Power in Devonport, has won a total of $4,603,538, with $4,436,871 from winning Powerball First Division and a further $166,667 from also winning Lotto First Division.
The lucky winner was watching the All Blacks play Canada last night, so did not think to check her Lotto ticket till reading the paper this morning.
"I saw the numbers in the paper and thought what silly numbers, no one will have those," she said.
"But when I got my ticket out, my eyes were immediately drawn to my ticket's second line. I couldn't believe it; I had all six numbers and the Powerball."
Unable to believe her own eyes, she made sure she got a second pair of eyes to check her ticket, before she allowed herself to celebrate her win.
"As soon as I realised my eyes weren't playing tricks on me I just laughed and danced around the lounge in joy," she said.
"Then I told my children, your clever Mum has just won Lotto".
Having just found out she has won, she is undecided on what she will be doing with the money, but family are top of her list.
Five other Lotto tickets also won $166,667 in Lotto First Division last night. Of those three have been claimed. The claimed tickets were sold at Bayfair Lotto in Tauranga, Caltex Orewa in Auckland and Whitcoulls Wellington Terminal in Wellington.
Still to be claimed are Lotto First Division prizes sold by Greenwoods Paper Power in Auckland and McCabes Toyworld & Post-Take Note in Putaruru
Last night's Winning Wheel ticket sold by Kelso Street Price Cutter in Tokoroa has also been claimed
