World's Biggest Bee Lands on Ellerslie
NEW BUZZ
IN TOWN
Buzzy Bee marquee set for
multi-million dollar stage show ... and it's coming your
way
THE world’s biggest bee has landed on Auckland’s Ellerslie Racecourse, ready for the multi-million dollar Buzzy Bee Stage Show to open this weekend.
After a swarm of activity, the Buzzy Bee “Big Top” measuring 100 metres in circumference is up and creating a buzz among Auckland motorists who can see it for miles in every direction.
Production marketing manager Paul Johnson says the marquee took six hours for a team of 10 to erect.
“The unusual part of putting this marquee up is that it’s sited on solid volcanic rock,” says Mr Johnson. “We had to use a special mechanical hammer on the end of a bob cat to get the pegs in. It is so secure, it’s safer than a house.”
Mr Johnson says marking out the
tent is crucial to the exercise.
“It’s a
military-scale exercise,” he says. “Once the marking out
is done, the king poles are winched into position followed
by the fabric.”
Mr Johnson says ultra modern design of
Buzzy's new Big Top marquee, eliminates the need
for
quarter poles so everyone has a great
view.
