Short Films Wanted

Short Films Wanted

After a successful inaugural year in 2006, the Show Me Shorts Film Festival is again on the hunt for outstanding Kiwi shorts to pit against the Aussies.

As the deadline for submissions quickly approaches, the festival team thought it only considerate to send a timely reminder to filmmakers across New Zealand.

Programming Director Gina Dellabarca says, "As with last year the early entries include far more from Australia, which always makes us nervous. It would be a shame to see the Best Film award disappear across the Tasman again this year. However there has also been some strong Kiwi films cross my path, so it should make for a very interesting on-screen battle in November."

Show Me Shorts is looking for short films from all genres to ensure a diverse selection. This includes comedy, documentary, horror, drama, sci-fi, thriller, animation and anything in-between. With four award categories, including Best Student Film, there are many chances for your film to gain the acclamation it deserves.

And remember, this time round films will travel the length of New Zealand. With the expansion from the Academy Cinemas in Auckland to screenings at prime locations in Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, just think of the exposure your film could receive!

The submissions deadline is 15 July 2007. Entries must be between three and thirty minutes long and must have been completed after 31 December 2003. Full guidelines are available on the website and you can submit your forms electronically.
