Lupe Fiasco Headlines Mtv Snowjam, Mtv’s First Birthday Party At Snowpark Nz Wanaka

THE FREE CONCERT HELD ON AUGUST 18 WILL ALSO FEATURE THE MINT CHICKS

On August 18 2007, influential American rapper LUPE FIASCO is set to headline MTV Networks’ first birthday celebrations at Snow Park NZ, Wanaka. The FREE FOR ALL event, called SNOW JAM, is in conjunction with the finals of the Billabong Slopestyle Jam snowboarding contest and will also include kiwi favorites THE MINT CHICKS. Additional live performances may be confirmed in coming weeks.

A unique snow stage will be erected with customised snowboard kickers attached to sides so pro snowboarders - competing in the Nixon Throwdown winner takes all air demo - can perform huge moves while the acts are on stage. The snow stage will be large enough to accommodate up to 1000 concerts goers and will ensure to put them in the middle of an amazing live show mixing the best of international professional snowboarding talent and live music with some impressive pyrotechnics mixed in to add to the excitement.

“It’s been an incredible first year for MTV in NZ. The channel has taken to the skies with the world’s first MTV Mile High Gig, we’ve helped Kickstart the careers of Christchurch band the Dukes, we hijacked the MTV Australia Video Music Awards and launched great new local programs such as Full Tank and The Mix” Says MTV Networks GM Chris Keely “Snow Jam will be the ultimate celebration of these achievements and will also set the standard of more local initiatives to come”

SNOW JAM is sponsored by Colgate and will be filmed for broadcast on MTV, channel 60 SKY digital, throughout September.
