Sandy's new works are the culmination of her recent research of early nz history combined with Maori Mythology.
Sandy Rodgers and designs based on early Postage and Revenue stamps
Historical 'facts' are layered beneath mythological 'stories' to tell new tales of old characters both Maori and Pakeha in an exciting and innovative way.
The designs are mostly based on early Postage and Revenue stamps of which have had the honour of recording moments in history since being created. Kings & Queens, new inventions, natural disasters have all been documented on stamps. Sandy has chosen this format as recognition of that often overlooked task of which stamps have always represented a countries culture and spirit with images that are used daily by millions of people around the world.
Sandy's new works are a statement, reminding us of where the world around us came from, where we came from and where we are yet to go!
Sandy Rodgers passion has been to combine two mediums, fine art and historical information in a contemporary and exciting way.
