New Zealanders buy into Moments of Tranquillity
A massive online charity auction supporting the NZ Cancer Society is capturing the hearts, minds and wallets of generous Kiwis bidding on over 300 items on the NZ House and Garden Moments of Tranquillity fundraising campaign.
With less that a week to go, the campaign has seen multiple items fetch above their retail price and active online trading of hundreds of donated goods. The online Trade Me auction will really heat up over the next few days when the individual auctions begin to close.
A number of items are already fetching top bids, in the thousands, including an antique Marie-Antionette dressing table, a Palatino baby grand piano, an original painting by NZ artist Grant Hanna, and a Dedon Obelisk outdoor furniture set.
Through their Moments of Tranquillity campaign,NZ House & Garden aims to raise a significant amount for the Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day appeal, which supports NZ cancer sufferers. One in three people are affected by cancer in New Zealand.
All the Moments of Tranquillity items have $1 reserves and free shipping, which means there are some great deals to be had in support of a worthy cause. The goods range from one off antiques to new, inexpensive to priceless, indoor and outdoor - all part of the magazine’s goal to raise money for the NZ Cancer Society.
People can bid on everything from Liz Mitchell and Trelise Cooper apparel, a four poster bed, jewellery, fabulous homeware and furnishings, a garden consultation withMucking In designer Tony Murrell, tickets to Cinderella, dinner for two at the French Café, dinner for six cooked by Ray McVinnie, 10 dozen Clevedon Coast oysters and even a weekend escape to a DOC hut on the Nelson Lakes.
The items all feature in six stunning Moments of Tranquillity designed by top kiwi designers in the August issue ofNZ House & Garden. The moments have been created by designers Neil McLachlan, Tony Murrell, Michal McKay, set designer Tracy Grant Lord, Victoria Bell and interior designer Paula McIntosh.
