For the Last Time: Hell, Man
FOR THE LAST TIME!
It's been Hell but they have clearly loved every minute of it. This highly acclaimed production is about to enter its final season offering audiences the last chance to experience this extraordinary musical experience.
Helen Medlyn, opera diva, jazz singer and Arts Laureate together with Penny Dodd, piano player & arranger and conductor, present their final show in their ten year "Hell" cabaret series.
"Hell, Man" marks the end of the opera, jazz, lieder and music theatre tour de force cabaret presentations from these two multitalented performers.
"The "Hell" cabaret shows are great fun, terribly demanding and hugely rewarding and quite our own thing,” says Helen. “We're Jacks (or Jills) of all trades, musically; these shows wrap up, in one show, the kind of diversity you have to have as an artist in New Zealand – from singing Handel and Samuel Barber arias to songs by Lennon / McCartney and Bob Dylan,” she concluded
“We're thinking we might have made our point after ten years and we're ready to move in another direction (with a working title "heaven”),” added Penny “But first we're going to "give it hell!"”.
"Hell, Man" will play a ten night season at the Herald Theatre, Aotea Centre, THE EDGE® from August 8th - 19th, 2007.
