‘Bring Home the Prodigals’

MEDIA RELEASE

16 August 2007

Time for the Church to unite to ‘Bring Home the Prodigals’

Bringing Home the Prodigals – a message of hope and reconciliation that moved audiences across the world - will now be heard across New Zealand.

Focus on the Family New Zealand is bringing Rob Parsons, the author of Bringing Home the Prodigals , to share his impacting message to Christchurch, Wellington, Tauranga and Auckland.

Parsons says, “This simple Parable has been called the greatest short story in the world. It speaks to us today with promises of new beginnings, the triumph of love and forgiveness, the joy of reconciliation and the call for the church to be ready when our prodigals come home.”

According to Focus on the Family NZ’s Executive Director, Tim Sisarich, “The outcome of this powerful event has seen countless stories from families around the world who have been encouraged as they see their loved ones come home, and we want that for New Zealand.”

However Mr. Sisarich believes that it its time for the Church to be seen practicing what it preaches –with a united voice. “We need to put aside differences and say “let’s help those that really need help, and make the church a safe place to return to”. Mr Sisarich also says “ it appears that the Church sees this great need too, with requests for larger venues from the local churches in each of the cities we are taking the event to.”

The message has already been heard in South Africa, Uganda, Costa Rica, Barbados, Australia, the UK, Malaysia and Singapore. Rob Parsons is convinced that the need is still great for churches to grasp this message of Bringing Home the Prodigals on a global scale.

“I believe, with all my heart, that the message of God’s love for the prodigal is as important now as it has been at any time in the past few years,” explains Parsons. “it is an issue that faces every church in every country. Just as the church isn’t limited by international boundaries, neither are the problems that churches face. And the good news is that God’s love isn’t limited by those boundaries, either.”

Rob Parsons will be in NZ to present Bringing Home the Prodigals from August 20th to August 25th. For details, go to www.family.org.nz
