WELLA Trend
Vision Winner
New Zealand representative announced to travel to Spain.
The spot light shone on the NEW WELLA Studio last night as hairdressers from around the country gathered to discover who will represent New Zealand at the annual WELLA Trend Vision award international final in Barcelona, Spain.
Nordic Serenity, Rustic Deluxe, Pop Couture and Sensual Intrigue, are the four stand-out trends translated into hair messages by the team at Wella Professionals for 2007. Hair stylists around the globe are challenged to interpret one of these four trends and create an editorial quality photographic entry. Then in October representatives from 72 countries will meet in Barcelona, Spain to recreate their photographic image on stage and compete for the international title.
Divided into two sections – Young Visionary (under 30) and Master Visionary (over 30), both award winning prizes involve travel.
Judged on total look, stylists have to show an understanding of the chosen trend; innovation and skill in hair colour work and styling; and mastery in fashion, accessorizing and staging.
Yesterday at the WELLA Studio four finalists in the Young Visionary section recreated their photographic looks, but there can be only one winner and Yoshi (Chung-Yang Su) from BUOY in Wellington, is off to Barcelona. Yoshi’s interpretation of the “Pop Couture” trend impressed judges who said “A very cute image, that is all put together exceptionally well. The attention to detail is incredible even down to the finger nail art!”said International judge Tracey Hughes from Mieka in Melbourne.
WELLA Technical Manager Steven Rowe commented “Yoshi has created a master piece, he is the total artist. The finish to the hair is excellent and a very progressive modern look. The perfect 2007 interpretation of the “Pop Couture” trend.
In
the Master Visionary section the winner is Sara Allsop from
Dharma in Auckland, with her “Pop Couture” entry. Her
second entry was named Runner up, interpreting the
“Sensual Intrigue” trend. The judges commented
“Sara’s model selection was great and the basis of a
fantastic interpretation of the Pop Couture trend.
Beautiful, clean, simple, well executed hair. Beautiful
photography and feel to the shot. This particular shot
captures everything that Trend Vision is about.” The
judges: International award winning hairdresser Tracey
Hughes from Mieka in Melbourne; Charmaine Guest, Editor
Headway Magazine; Helene Ravlich, Deputy Editor, Black
magazine and Steven Rowe WELLA NZ Technical
Manager.
The Young Visionary winner will receive a
trip for the winner, assistant and model to Barcelona, Spain
to compete on stage at the International Trend Vision Award
2007 final on 28 October 2007. The winner will also receive
the WELLA Trend Vision Award 2007 trophy.
The Master Visionary winner will receive a trip for two to New York, including airfares, 4 night accommodation and a seminar at the WELLA World Studio, New York. The winner will also receive the WELLA Trend Vision Award 2007 trophy.
