Round Five Of VAJ Rally

Round five of the Vantage Aluminium Joinery 2007 New Zealand Rally Championship, on behalf of The Motorsport Company

Manufacturers nominate NZ drivers

Nominated to points score at this weekends World Rally Championship event, six drivers have been picked by New Zealand based Ford, Mitsubishi and Subaru brands.

Counting toward the ‘Manufacturers’ title that forms part of the 2007 Vantage Aluminium Joinery New Zealand Rally Championship, each brand nominates two drivers per round to score points.

This weekend’s fifth of six rounds in the 2007 season see’s both Mitsubishi and Subaru throw weight behind their championship contenders while Ford hedges its bet in the Group N 2WD class.

Run as part of New Zealand’s World Rally Championship round, the domestic series heads in to its championship title formative round before the finale in late September at Nelson.

Drivers will score points for two of the three day event – where they will also accumulate points toward drivers and co-drivers championship titles.

Starting with a shakedown test at Mystery Creek on Thursday morning (30 August) – the event kicks off with a ceremonial start in Hamilton on Thursday evening.

Friday is a five-stage test around the Otorohanga and Waitomo regions – including the Super Special at Mystery Creek service base.  Saturday covers six stages in Franklin and Waikato districts with the Sunday a seven stage slog that concludes with a final sprint around the Mystery Creek Super Special.  Ceremonial finish celebrations begin at 3pm on the Sunday at the Mystery Creek Events Centre.

Drivers nominated by:
