Sextets & Violins in September

APO String Ensemble – Lion Foundation Twilight Chamber Series
Monday 24 September, 6.30pm
Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall, THE EDGE

Six string players from the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra will present a programme of Brahms and Tchaikovsky as part of the orchestra’s Lion Foundation Twilight Chamber Series on Monday 24 September.

Led by APO concertmaster, Dimitri Atanassov, the six-piece string ensemble features fellow players Pam Jiang (violin), Robert Ashworth (viola), Christine Bowie (viola), David Garner (cello) and James Tennant (cello).

The ensemble will perform Brahms’ String Sextet No. 1 and Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence in the Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall at the special twilight time of 6.30pm.

“The Lion Foundation Twilight Chamber Series has offered our audiences a wonderful opportunity to hear visiting soloists and local artists perform chamber music repertoire this year. These concerts been warmly received by audiences who have enjoyed seeing artists in a more intimate setting,” says APO Chief Executive, Barbara Glaser. “This concert is a fantastic opportunity to hear some of the APO’s own string players perform these two delightful sextets.”
