Top Chefs Craft Edible Art In The Capital
Wellington's leading restaurants and chefs will sharpen their tools and put creative culinary skills to the test in the third annual Montana Edible Art Awards throughout September.
Ten celebrated Wellington restaurants will each introduce a dish on their menu during September that is not only tastefully delicious but also visually stunning. Each masterpiece will be carefully crafted to match a wine from the Montana range.
The daringly flamboyant Edible Art competition was developed by Montana to echo the magic of the Montana World of WearableArt™ Awards Show through another great Kiwi passion - cuisine.
Diners will also have the first chance to sample three stunning new Montana Terroir Series Pinot Noirs - Gabriel's Gully Central Otago Pinot Noir 2006, Forgotten Valley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2006 and Corbett's Legacy Waipara Pinot Noir 2006 - available exclusively at participating restaurants during September.
Judging the 2007 Montana Edible Art Awards are renowned food writer and current World Food Media Awards best restaurant critic, John Lethlean, and NZ's very own and loveable TV3 personality, Jaquie Brown. Judging takes place on September 19th and 20th.
Montana group brand manager, Kathryn Petit, explains; "This exclusively Wellington wine and food competition helps celebrate the Montana World of WearableArt® Awards Show, the ultimate icon of exuberant Kiwi creativity.
"The Montana Edible Art Awards is a serious culinary competition, carried out in a light-hearted way that puts the fun back into food and reflects the nature of Montana wine drinkers."
Last year's winner, Martin Bosley's, was awarded the top prize for its bold and creative 'Flavours of Pinot Noir' dish which was matched with Montana Letter Series "T" Terraces Pinot Noir.
The restaurant will again be vying to keep its prestigious title, and is up against Crazyhorse The Steakhouse, St John's Restaurant and Bar, Shed 5 Restaurant and Bar, Zibibbo, Hummingbird Café, Café Bastille, The Tasting Room, The General Practitioner and Herd Street.
