NZ Led Zeppelin Fans Get Taste of Live Experience

THE LED ZEPPELIN PROJECT & AUCKLAND PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA
Friday 14 September, 8pm
The Trusts Stadium, 65-67 Central Park Drive, Waitakere City

The announcement overnight that Led Zeppelin will reform for a one-off concert in London in November may be bittersweet for New Zealand fans on the other side of the world but those in Auckland can celebrate the news with The Led Zeppelin Project & the APO tomorrow night.

Led Zeppelin, who broke up at the end of 1980 following the death of drummer John “Bonzo” Bonham, has confirmed they will play a one-off gig in London on November 26th at the O2 stadium. The three original members – Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones – will be joined on drums by Bonham’s son, Jason Bonham. Demand for tickets for the gig, a tribute to Atlantic Records founder, the late Ahmet Ertegun, was so huge, it crashed the website set up for people to register for a ticket ballot with demand worldwide.

The Led Zeppelin Project that performs in Auckland on Friday night with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra is led by UK singer – and Robert Plant look-alike – Billy Kulke. Kulke, whose band Letz Zep has performed in front of both Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, says the announcement of the reunion concert is huge news.

“The BBC phoned me on Tuesday night in Auckland to tell me about the reunion concert and I had to tell them I was unavailable to go on camera to comment as I was here in New Zealand! This would have to be the most anticipated concert in rock music history.”

The Led Zeppelin Project guitarist Rob Pippan – who has been playing in Led Zeppelin tribute acts for the past 20 years – says the announcement will give Friday’s concert at The Trusts Stadium in Waitakere an extra celebratory feeling: “While it is unlikely many NZ fans will have the chance to see Led Zeppelin live in November, we invite them to join us tomorrow night for a fantastic Led Zeppelin concert experience. We may not be the real thing, but we sound like it, and backed by 65-piece orchestra, this is going to be one huge sounding concert!”

Tickets for The Led Zeppelin Project & the APO $35-$65 (plus booking fee) available now from Ticket Direct. Ph 0800 4 TICKETS or visit www.ticketdirect.co.nz. Door sales also available.
