New Zealand’s BeST Designs on Show in Exhibition
An upside down pot plant; an
eco-coffin; a sexy street pole; a revitalised beer brand and
a swanky Auckland hotel will be among over 260 entries on
display in an exhibition showcasing the winners and
finalists of the highly anticipated 2007 BeST Design
Awards.
The BeST Design Awards is the annual awards programme presented by the Designers Institute of New Zealand (DINZ) to showcase and celebrate the very best of New Zealand design across the disciplines of graphics, interior and product.
The 2007 Dulux BeST Design Awards
Exhibition, which is being sponsored by Dulux for the second
year, will be held at the Auckland War Memorial Museum from
October 5– October 20, before it travels to Tauranga (29
October – 3 November) and Christchurch (12 November – 17
November).
Cathy Veninga, Chief Executive Officer of the
Designers Institute of New Zealand, which represents
professional designers throughout the country, says that the
awards and exhibition pay tribute to the immense design
talent that we have in New Zealand.
Says Ms Veninga:
“Designers across the three disciplines demonstrated
incredible design in terms of creativity, innovation and
skill. New Zealand design is truly coming of age and the
standard of work being produced by our designers is world
class.”
The BeST Design Awards originated in 1988 and have been held annually since 1996. Winners of this year’s awards will be announced at a glittering black tie ceremony at Auckland’s Aotea Centre on Friday October 5.
