See Hollie Smith Onstage At Toast Martinborough

Hollie Smith To Take The Stage At Toast Martinborough

Hollie Smith is among the line up of top kiwi entertainers on show at this year's Toast Martinborough festival. Tickets to the leading wine, food and music extravaganza go on sale next Wednesday 10 October.

Following a sell out tour earlier this year and opening for Bob Dylan in August, Hollie will perform at Te Kairanga Estate as part of the festival on Sunday 18 November, thanks to Vodafone New Zealand.

"Over the years, Toast Martinborough has become as renowned for its superb entertainment as it has for the premium quality of the wine being showcased," said festival organiser Cath Hopkin.

"This year we have another fabulous line up, with everything from easy jazz and lazy blues to upbeat rock. Whether you want to kick back and relax on the grass with a glass of award winning wine or get up and have a good boogie, this year's festival has something to offer everyone."

Other great performers on show this year include perennial favourites the Warratahs and the Beat Girls, to the Nairobi Trio and Eric Clapton opening act, Pearl.

This year's event, supported by Principal Sponsors Vodafone and Tranz Metro, features 10 participating vineyards offering a selection of new and limited release wines splendidly matched to culinary delights from Wellington and the Wairarapa's top restaurants.

"With chefs from the likes of Wharekauhau Estate, Terroir and Salute, festival goers will be spoilt for choice in the tempting array of treats on offer," Cath Hopkin said.

The annual showcase of the region's wines will again feature the opportunity to sample wine put aside specially for the event from vintages that have sold out.

"There will be some outstanding wines on show this year including many that have won national or international awards. With many of these wines being produced in small quantities and snapped up quickly by local and offshore buyers, the festival is a rare chance to enjoy some of the best wines this region has produced in recent years."

As an additional service this year, Vodafone is offering a free TXT alert service for Vodafone customers planning to go to the festival. By simply TXTing 'TOAST' to 787, people will get free TXT updates on tickets, bands, weather, transport and special offers before and during the festival. Vodafone customers with Vodafone live! mobiles can also download tracks from Hollie's latest album Long Player to get themselves in the mood for the festival.

Now in its 16th year, Toast Martinborough has become a fixture on the national wine and food calendar, with the 10,000 festival tickets in hot demand each year.

"One fifth of revellers attend the festival each year and two thirds attend the event regularly, so we expect tickets to be snapped up again quickly this year," Cath Hopkin said.

Tickets to Toast Martinborough will go on sale at Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.co.nz ) on Wednesday 10 October.
