$5.67 Million Powerball Prize Talk of the Town in Whangaparoa

A Powerball prize worth $5.67 million will be the talk of the town in Whangaparoa this week, says NZ Lotteries' Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.

Tonight's winning Lotto Powerball ticket was purchased Paper Plus Toyworld, Manly in Whangaparoa and is worth a total of $5.67 million with $5,341,577 million from winning Powerball First Division and a further $333,333 from also winning Lotto First Division.

"Powerball can hit at any time and this total jackpot prize of $5.67 million will certainly change the lives of this winner," says Mr McLeay.

This is the fourth Powerball prize to be won since mid-June. It was last won on 25 August in Hastings, with that player taking home $8.3 million.

Previously it was won on 30 June in Christchurch, with that player taking home $2.3 million while on June 16, a lucky player who purchased their ticket at Haywards Paper Power in Devonport on the North Shore won a $4.4 million Powerball prize.

"Powerball offers New Zealanders the big prizes, and it certainly has delivered for many this year," said Mr McLeay.

Mr McLeay's advice for the big winner is to write their name and details on the back of their ticket and then get in touch with NZ Lotteries' Wellington office on 04 802 7000.

Two other Lotto tickets have also won Lotto First Division tonight, winning $333,333 each. The winning tickets were sold at Sweet Lotto Centre in North Shore City and Pak N Save Mt Albert in Auckland.

Tonight's other winner was Karen Hollis from Gisborne who spun and won a $100,000 home upgrade on Lotto's Winning Wheel.

Tonight's Winning Wheel ticket was sold by Wymondley Superette in Manukau. The serial number is 768-09505285-20XX.

"Anyone who bought their ticket from any of the above winning stores should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any NZ Lotteries outlet," Mr McLeay says.
