EYES WIDE OPEN (INTERNATIONAL DOCO) – Tuesday November 20 at 8.30 PM

Malawi nurse Catherine Phiri discovered she was HIV positive after the death of her husband. Risking isolation and even violence, she speaks publicly about her condition, using her experience and her voice to break the silence surrounding AIDS.

LAND OF MY ANCESTORS (NZ DOCO) – Wednesday November 21 at 8.30 PM

This portrait of Maori artist Darcy Nicholas also celebrates the strong connection between Maori and both Native Americans and First Nations people of Canada, and touches on reclaiming of cultural guardianship of taonga in museums.
