Elizabeth Marvelly’s debut album goes gold in less than a week
Teenage opera singer Elizabeth Marvelly’s debut album has “shipped gold”.
In just three days since the self-titled album was launched, retailers throughout the country have snapped up an unprecedented amount.
Some 7500 copies have been shipped since the star-studded launch in Auckland and demand is expected to escalate in the next few weeks as the album becomes THE hot ticket for Christmas.
On top of the commercial success of the album, the beautiful Rotorua talent has been signed to tour with Britain’s Got Talent opera phenomenon Paul Potts and was rushed into the studio with Amici Forever star Geoff Sewell to record a duet for his upcoming international solo album.
Tomorrow (Sunday) she will appear in Christchurch’s Santa Parade and next weekend, she will enjoy a 200,000-strong crowd at Auckland’s Christmas in the Park.
The following week she jets off to Hong Kong to entertain an A-list of celebrities for the premiere of Nicole Kidman’s latest blockbuster The Golden Compass and returns via Sydney for Carols by Candlelight.
Her manager Gray Bartlett MBE says sales of this amount are unprecedented in New Zealand.
“It shows the level of talent Elizabeth possesses. She is an amazing performer and artist. New Zealand is loving her and the world will too.”
