Christmas Box Reaches New High
Christmas Box Reaches New High
3 December 2007
Christmas Box delivers “Christmas in a Box”
for families in need at Christmas time. Thanks to community
fundraising efforts, 4000 Christmas Boxes will be packed and
distributed over the next 2 weeks before Christmas day –
up 1500 boxes from 2006.
The Christmas Box packing day will take place on Dec 8 in Mt Eden where a team of 300 volunteers will donate their day to pack and prepare the boxes.
Christmas Box is distributed through various community partners such as Auckland City Mission, Women’s Refuge, Salvation Army, Barnados and many more including a number of children homes.
Project Manager Lili Lemalu says “We are delighted to be able to put out so many Christmas Boxes this year. Christmas time is a difficult time for a lot of people, so being able to make the day that much better and letting people know that some stranger cares is just fantastic. We’d like to thank all those who have contributed this year to make this happen.”
The Christmas Box contains items to provide a meal for the family including vouchers to collect Chicken and Ice-Cream from local supermarkets.
Christmas Box has been run since 2002 and has given out over 7,000 hampers.
Supporters can still contribute to the project through either donating a product into a box, or donating a whole Christmas Box.
