Skycity Brings Xmas Cheer to Kidz First
Last Saturday (December 1, 2007) more than 250 children and their families from the Kidz First Children's Hospital came together for a cracker of a Christmas party at SKYCITY Auckland.
The Kidz First Christmas Party was an explosion of fun and entertainment with balloon artists, face-painters, stilt-walkers, fairies, clowns, Blues players, NZ Warriors, Shortland Street stars and of course the jolly red man himself.
Pam Tregonning, Executive director for the South Auckland Health Foundation, says it is fantastic that SKYCITY wanted to give special kids a special Christmas.
"The Kidz First Christmas Party is designed to provide a Christmas celebration for Kidz First community kids. These children are not hospitalised but require long term care by the Kidz First Community paediatric team due to some form of continuing illness or disability.
"This party is exactly what these kids and their families needed - loads of fun, lots of treats and a little bit of Christmas magic."
Kylie Archer, SKYCITY Community Relations and Sponsorship Manager, says SKYCITY was excited to throw a huge party for Kidz First kids and families who may have had a challenging year.
"Each guest tucked into party food, received a Christmas present from Santa, got photos and autographs with TV and sports stars and enjoyed a piece of the huge Christmas cake prepared especially by SKYCITY pastry chefs.
"SKYCITY is also delighted to announce that it will be dedicating the Sky Tower Christmas lights to Kidz First over the Christmas period. The Sky Tower will be lit red and green from December 1 until December 29, 2007."
Celebrities that attended the party included Blues players Nick Evans, Taniela Moa, George Pisi, Benson Stanley, Tom McCartney, Anthony Boric, Jamie Helleur and Chris Lowrey, NZ Warriors Brent Tate, Ryan Shortland and Evarn Tuimavave, Shortland Street actors Ben Mitchell and Will Hall and The Hub presenters Vicki Lin and Jordan Vandermade.
