Bacardi B-Live: One Off Gig In February

- Mark de Clive-Lowe featuring Sharlene Hector of Basement Jaxx and two time UK Beat box Champion Beardyman -

Bacardi is bringing three international musicians to New Zealand for an exclusive Bacardi B-Live gig in February. Well known ex-pat Mark de Clive-Lowe (MdCL) will be performing a live MPC set with Sharlene Hector of Basement Jaxx on vocals. The gig will also feature two time UK Beat Box Champion Beardyman with Recloose, Sambro and T Rice in support.

MdCL is a New Zealand musician and producer based in the UK and at the forefront of the global beats, jazz, and soul community. For over the past ten years, Mark's musical journeying has taken him to the US, UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Cuba. Performing and recording in different settings collaborating with DJ/producers, turntablists, acoustic jazz artists, Japanese Kagura, and the world of Latin rhythms, Mark has become a major figure in the nu-jazz movement, blending jazz, ethnic music and urban grooves into a fresh 21st Century flavour.

Joining MdCL onstage is vocalist Sharlene Hector. Sharlene has performed all over the world fronting Basement Jaxx, as well as with Beverley Knight, Brand New Heavies, Primal Scream, Shaun Escoffery and Mark de Clive-Lowe, among others. One of the outstanding new voices of the UK's soul and dance scene, Sharlene has also featured on record with Reel People and on Basement Jaxx’s label, Atlantic Jaxx.

Two time UK Beat boxing Champion Beardyman will also be showcasing his unique talents throughout the gig. Beardyman is a phenomenal all round musician, using cutting-edge sound-mangling technology to create dance-inducing layered rhythms, breath-taking soundscapes, fully produced songs and tunes, all improvised and created entirely from his voice. In Beardyman's shows, no pre-recorded material is used, and everything is created live and in real time in front of the audience, who he takes on a mind-bending journey from dumbstruck to dancing and back again. His video "Kitchen Diaries" which features him combining beat boxing with cooking has been viewed more than 2 million times on YouTube.
The artists will be brought together for one night only, delivering eclectic music through a live performance exclusive to a crowd of 300.

The upcoming February gig builds on the success of Bacardi B-Live OE: Brazil, which involved six of New Zealand’s most talented musicians travelling to Sao Paulo to collaborate with Brazilian artists. More recently, Bacardi held the B-Live October tour featuring US DJ’s King Britt and Nickodemus.

“Bacardi is committed to helping develop Kiwi musical talent on both a local and international scale” says Andrew Collings, Bacardi Brand Manager.

"Bacardi B-LIVE is a great ongoing project for Bacardi to be involved in. It allows us to keep supporting some of New Zealand’s most accomplished musical talent, while bringing some of the world’s best talent for all New Zealanders to enjoy," says Mr. Collings.

Kiwi music lovers will get the opportunity to experience the unique sounds at the Bacardi B-LIVE gig in Auckland at the Union Fish Building, Quay St, on Saturday 16 February. Tickets to this exclusive Bacardi event are available through DMC on High Street and Real Groovy Auckland, priced from $10.00.
