the Tasmanian coast, the skippers of the three super maxis
in the 63rd Rolex Sydney to Hobart race were licking their
lips, dreaming of sailing across the Derwent River finish
line earlier than the magic 7:40 am finish which would break

Everybody has a chance in
quest for overall trophy
Rolex Sydney Hobart Media
Centre,
If the Rolex Sydney Hobart was a straight
forward sprint, picking the race favourite would be a cinch.
Look at the likely weather conditions, see which boat is
fastest in these and put your money down. But it isn’t a
first past the post sprint, it is a handicap race and there
are 66 boats ranging from 34 to 100 feet that are eligible
to be the 63rd winner of the Tattersall’s Cup.

The winner
of the 2007 Rolex Sydney to Hobart, will be the overall

boat on IRC and deserves her line honours favouritism. After
the canting keelers the fleet begins to break into speed
bands and depending on the timing of the race, the leader of
the division that turns Tasman Light in building conditions
should win the race.... [more]
