Celebrate Maori music at Pt England Reserve

Auckland City Council is celebrating the music of our tangata whenua with Holden Astra Summer Sounds at Pt England Reserve on Sunday, 9 March from 3pm to 6pm.

This is the second-to-last concert in the Holden Astra Summer Sounds series, featuring the talented line up of:

- The Kingites – formed in the late 1990s by former Dam Native MC and vocalist Hone Manukau, with drummer Dan Harawira (Che Fu and Unity Pacific), bass player Mike Forbes, guitarist Steve Forbes, vocalist Carl “EQ” Newman, keyboardist Junior “JR” Paea, and percussionist Jason Maze

- Brother Love – one of one of New Zealand’s most successful Cook Island Maori artists

- Billy TK Senior – a former member of bands such as the Sinners, Human Instinct and Powerhouse, appearing at this event on electric guitar with his son, Billy TK Junior.

Auckland City Council’s Music in Parks 2008 is proudly sponsored by Holden Astra and Drake International, and supported by New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT), The Lion Foundation, Radioworks (Solid Gold, The Breeze, More FM, Radio Live and Kiwi FM), 95bFM, Ecover and NZ Rockshops.
