Transform for Autumn in one weekend at the Autumn Home Show 2008
With autumn on the way, our thoughts return to the comforts of home and where better to start than the Autumn Home Show, running from the 4th – 6th of April at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland.
The Autumn Home Show has something for everyone, featuring more than 200 exhibitors across four categories; DIY, Home Products, The Food and Art Marketplace and the ever popular Sewing, Stitching and Handcraft Show. With so many experts all together on one site, The Autumn Home Show is the place to find expert information and innovative products, all under one roof, in one weekend. Not only will there be ‘show only’ specials but products are coming in from all around the county that you might only ever be able to see at the show!
This year the Autumn Home Show is proud to be sponsoring the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation. A percentage of every ticket sold will be donated to the NZBCF and on Sunday April 6th a charity auction will take place on site. Display items that have been donated by the shows exhibitors will be up for auction and everyone who purchases a ticket to the show will be given a free pass to return for the auction. Not only will you be supporting a great charity but you’ll be getting all the ammunition you need to kick start your home projects at a very special price!
DIY is a great Kiwi tradition and this season in the DIY and Home Products Section you'll find the latest home improvement ideas, home heating options, interior design solutions and more. Take your time to explore all the various sites on display, including indoor and outdoor furniture, kitchens, flooring, appliances, bathrooms, heating and audio systems. Trial the new Easi-paint non drip painting system, or check out the latest in flooring offers with Parks Building supplies as they showcase their quality timber, laminate and bamboo options.
For inside the home, the Autumn Home Show features a huge range of exhibitors, including furniture and appliances to take your home of the present far into the future. Companies such as Healthy Home Solutions are a must-see, bringing a totally holistic approach to creating a healthier, more effective home environment.
Food has always been an important part of the Autumn Home Show and this year is no exception with the Food, Art and Wine Marketplace. Everyone loves to try new taste sensations and here you’ll find some delightful tempters for your taste buds. Sample until your heart is content as you take in the visual feast that awaits you. Trial everything from a delicious cappuccino from Espressoworkz, home made jams and toppings, to delicate and decadent fudge from Fudge It. A ‘must taste’ comes in the form of Yellow Tail Wines who have recently had the most successful launch of any Australian wine in the history of the Australian wine industry, and are now regarded as a global phenomenon. They will be launching the new Yellow Tail Cabernet Merlot at the Autumn Home Show.
Alongside the Food Marketplace is a broad selection of Art from local and international artists for your viewing pleasure. From original pieces to prints, to stunning photography and custom made pin-up boards - there's something to capture the imagination of any homeowner.
Back by popular demand this season are the Property Know-how Seminars. These free seminars have been created by the NZ Property Presentation Network and this year there will be a strong focus on the recent changes in the property market. Topics will include property rescue remedies, overcoming market jitters, maximising your investment, understanding the property cycle, and adding value to your property. And of course the highly desirable $1100 prize package will be won by one lucky seminar attendee. Likewise; Secure Invest will be bringing their excellent team of experts to the show and offering advice for the budding developer.
And if you love all things arts and crafts, then with specialists flying in from places as far away as Gore; there’s only one place where you can meet and talk to them all in the one location- The Sewing, Stitching and Handcraft Show. This is New Zealand’s largest and most extensive presentation of handcrafts in New Zealand and has many beautiful and informative exhibits that won’t be seen anywhere else.
Preserving the heritage and championing the cause of traditional arts and crafts, the Autumn Home Show is bringing you a stellar line up this year with old time favourite Julie van der Putten, aka ‘Puddle’ back to showcase her latest ideas. Recognised as “the Martha Stewart of the quilting world”, watch with amazement as she makes a bracelet in minutes and teaches you to create ‘one of a kind’ pieces of Jewellery. Puddle will also be demonstrating the latest tricks of the trade in Needle Felting, Yo Yo's, and PomPom makers.
Creative Fibre will be offering the chance to do some basic felt making and Wild Fibres will be showcasing their student’s creations in fashion shows throughout the day. With everything from peacock feathers to a doghair jumper be prepared to be entertained and surprised with the weird and wonderful fabric choices and make sure you get a great seat at this unique show!
Kalsbeek Creative Crafts will be demonstrating a large range of European crafts, templates, punches, 3D papertole sheets, die-cut sheets and tons of stickers. Singer will be bringing the breakthrough CE-250; a brand new embroidery/sewing machine and demonstrating this throughout the show. Swiftquilter will also be showcasing their latest model which is proving to be highly successful in overcoming the problems of quilting with domestic sewing machines. Using the Lutterloh new German Pattern Making System you can go to a hands-on workshop where you will draft your own Waistcoat Pattern, using only bust and hip measurements. Alternatively, watch a demonstration where you will be taught how to Knit and Design your own Designer Bag with Bev James. And of course Martin Smith, fondly known as the ‘Elna Man’ with his passion for Quilting Couture will be back showing us how to achieve that professional finish.
