Playcentre Celebrates Children’s Day – and 60 years of educating and supporting New Zealand children and their families
Playcentre parents will be out in force bringing face-painting pleasure to hundreds of children at the Every Child Counts Celebration of Children event on Sunday March 2nd at Government House.
“It’s a great opportunity to be involved in a wonderful event that celebrates our children” say Paremata mum and Playcentre parent Mary-Ann Gardner.
Celebrating children and supporting their families and their learning and development is what the Wellington region’s almost 40 local Playcentres are about.
“Playcentres support parents as the first and best teachers of their children, said Mary-Ann Gardner. ‘This year’s Children’s Day theme is all about gaining new experiences. That’s something we really focus upon at Playcentre – helping our children to follow up their interests and expand them.”
“Trained volunteer parent teams run our sessions – so there’s lots of new learning for the parents too. It’s a wonderful way to make friends with others in the community, and gain skills and parenting tips along the way, said Mary-Ann Gardner.
Playcentres is are, unique to New Zealand and this year Playcentre and this year nationwide is celebrating its 60th birthday.
