Ford Helps Keep Newest Generation Of Kiwis Safe
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 6th March 2008
Ford New Zealand is helping keep the newest generation of New Zealanders safe by continuing their work with Plunket's Car Seat Rental Scheme. Fifteen new car seats will be delivered to Porirua, Wairoa, Opotiki, Rotorua and Masterton Plunkets during the Variety Bash next week by the Ford team.
Plunket's Car Seat Rental Scheme has been in operation for over 25 years and has 250 coordinators managing the rental of around 27,000 car seats to New Zealand families.
"Safety is paramount for Ford. Our vehicles are loaded with equipment designed to avoid accidents, minimise risk and protect occupants in the event of a crash," said Ford Public Affairs Manager, Brianna Elder.
"Car seats are essential in protecting the smallest passengers in any car. Our work with Plunket is helping ensure New Zealand families have access to car seats and children are safe while traveling."
Infant and child restraints have a life span of between six and 10 years, meaning Plunket needs ongoing support and constant donations to ensure they can continue to offer 27,000 car seats for rental.
"Ford New Zealand's support of the Car Seat Rental Scheme is invaluable. They have donated over 65 car seats for New Zealand families to use in the last five years," says Catherine McLaren National Car Seat Rental Scheme Advisor for Plunket.
“Donations such as these enable us to keep providing affordable and safe car seats to families around New Zealand. It is really important for us to have a good range of car seats as families need to ensure that they have an approved child restraint appropriate for their age, size and weight, and that fits their car,” says Ms McLaren.
