New Zealand Charities to Benefit from Paul Newman’s Own
Movie star Paul Newman’s 2008 charity campaign will see NZ$100,000 donated to New Zealand charities.
The Newman’s Own Foundation was formed in 1984 with the purpose of allocating the profits from sales of Paul Newman’s products to charity groups worldwide. This year the Newman’s Own Foundation will allocate up to NZ$20,000 to each successful charity and submissions for funding can be made from Tuesday 1st April 2008.
This is the first year the programme has run in consecutive years in New Zealand and it is expected that grant submissions will be even more popular than in the past. In 2007 13 New Zealand charities benefited from the generous donation scheme, including Allergy New Zealand, Debra NZ, and Youth Line.
Newman’s Own Foundation spokesperson Sue Home said any charity big or small could apply to the foundation.
In 2007, approx 1 million bottles of Paul Newman’s Own salad dressings were sold in New Zealand and to date Paul Newman has donated over US$250 million worldwide.
Expressions of interest accepted 1 April – 8 May 2008. Anyone wishing to nominate a charity should visit www.paulnewmansown.co.nz for further details.
