Geoff Sewell debuts at #2
BELIEVE -- the long-awaited solo album by GEOFF SEWELL, the voice of opera band AMICI FOREVER -- has debuted in the New Zealand Top 40 Album Chart at Number 2.
This triumphant entry into the chart is a
sweet one for the 35 year old singing sensation who produced
and distributed BELIEVE in New Zealand under his own label,
Sewell Music, without the backing of a multi-national record
label.
"I'm thrilled at such an incredible launch. I'm so grateful to the NZ public for supporting me not only in what I love to do but also what I'm trying to achieve for autism awareness," Geoff said, popping corks and toasting to the success from his London home.
As a celebration of the milestone, New Zealander Geoff will return home next week and will appear in Westfield, Albany, Auckland, supported by Dancing With The Stars winner Temepara George and her dance partner Stefano Olivieri - united in their quest to raise awareness and educate others about autism.
Geoff and his wife Simone have a daughter Sienna who is affected by autism while Temepara and Stefano's chosen charity for DWTS was Autism New Zealand.
The trio will put on a spectacular performance at
Westfield Albany from 1pm on Tuesday, April 29.
One of the tracks on the album is titled Sienna's Song and proceeds from this will go to families overcoming autism.
Geoff says that since the album was released last week, he has worked hard to highlight the effects and treatment of autism in his promotion. An example of the reaction is that Sienna's autism specialist in NZ received over 100 inquiries from worried parents in one day.
"We are delighted to offer help and HOPE to other parents who are travelling the same path. As parents, we think the hardest part upon receiving this devastating diagnosis is not knowing how you can help your child. But with this album we'll continue to get the message out that there is a lot you can do to heal your child using biomedical intervention. Autism is treatable! Recovery is possible!"
