Putting New Zealand Charities In The Limelight

Putting New Zealand Charities In The Limelight

Putting the heart back into business is one of the key aims behind Limelight, a new nationwide online business and community directory service that provides direct benefits for Kiwi charities.

Supported by Alison Mau and Stacey Jones, New Zealand owned Limelight is helping local businesses support their communities, with approximately 1/3rd of all advertising revenue benefiting Kiwi non-profit organisations.

Limelight kicks off a six-week nationwide tour today, taking the new brand concept into local communities and raising money for both Variety - the Children’s Charity and Child Cancer Foundation.

Hogging the limelight on the tour will be its star attraction - a motorised lime green couch which will be driven around the country, starting in Kaitaia on May 15th and going as far South as Bluff before finishing back in Auckland on June 19th. The Charity trip will put over 20 towns in the limelight, celebrating ‘local legends’ and involving community celebrities and other local charities.

Limelight Director, Andrew Josephson said: “Most local businesses want to support their communities and help charitable causes. Limelight makes it easy for them to do this, and to market themselves at the same time. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Limelight’s Community Editor, Alison Mau said: “On the Limelight Charity Couch tour we will be putting over 20 towns into the ‘limelight’, celebrating local communities while also raising money for both Variety - the Children’s Charity and Child Cancer Foundation.”

In each town the Charity Tour stops in, a nominated person from that community will be put in the ‘limelight’ and recognized for their contribution to the local area. They will be crowned a ‘local legend’ and at the end of the Charity tour will be flown to Auckland with all the other ‘legends’ for a celebratory dinner.

www.limelight.co.nz provides a content manageable online platform for businesses to advertise. Rates are very cost effective starting from $99 pa for a fully featured multi-page listing. Businesses also have the added ‘feel good’ factor of supporting their community with between 20%-40% of the listing fee going to a nominated beneficiary such as a charity, local club or school.

Limelight also provides a community listings service for all non-profit organisations, totally free of charge. This allows them to promote themselves and any fundraising initiatives online.

Lorraine Taylor, CEO of Variety - the Children’s Charity said: “The Limelight concept is great as it enables businesses to support their local and national charities on an on-going basis. Fundraising is at the core of charities and the structure of Limelight provides charities with an on-going revenue stream.”
