Registration Now Open For Burton New Zealand Open 2008

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (May 15, 2008) – Registration is now open for the Burton New Zealand Open Snowboarding Championships, the country’s top snowboarding competition, to be staged from July 29 to August 2 at Snow Park NZ.
Riders can register at www.opensnowboarding.com and event organisers are encouraging all Slopestyle, Quarter Pipe and Half Pipe riders to sign up for a chance to win great cash prizes. The grand total prize purse for the Burton New Zealand Open is set at $50,000.
The opening of the entries coincides with the unveiling of the new Burton Global Open Series website. Launched this week it includes new features such as rider profile pages featuring rider snapshots, bios, current BGOS standings and event results per rider.
Attracting the world’s top professional riders, the Burton NZ Open kicks off the 2009 international snowboard competition series. Below are the dates and locations for all 2008/2009 Burton Global Open Series competitions.

With events scheduled year-round and in six countries, the Burton Global Open Series boasts the most lucrative cumulative prize purse in snowboarding. All six Burton Global Open Series events offer riders the chance to earn points towards a male and female championship title, each worth $100,000, currently the largest single payout in snowboarding.
The Burton Global Open Series is also part of the Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour, the largest group of independent freestyle snowboard events in the world. TTR ranks riders based on their results at participating competitions and crowns a TTR World Champion at the US Open.
