Oakley 'O.G.' Grenell: Moving On NZ tour announced
New Zealand's
freshest hip-hop talent Oakley 'O.G.' Grenell today
announced a trans-Tasman tour of his latest sounds from his
critically-acclaimed album Moving On.
The tour begins this Friday at Wellington's Sandwiches before heading to Christchurch, two performances in Auckland, a southern trip to Wanaka before concluding in Queenstown. Please refer to specific dates listed below in the tour schedule.
The album Moving On showcases Grenell's beat-making talent with collaborations with exciting new talents and celebrated vocalists from across the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The single Moving On reached No. 2 on the New Zealand alternative charts April 24 and is currently at No. 4 for the second successive week.
Joining O.G. are singers Mark Vanilau, Mara TK, LA Mitchell, Spikey Tee, Charmed 1 and MCs Dynamite MC, KP, Switch, Wacklar and Voodoo Child. The album was mastered by UK Grammy Award winner George Lambert (Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, Tribe Called Quest) and mixed by b-Net award winner The Nomad.
The reviews for O.G.'s Moving On have been very positive, including the following:
"Grenell's sophomore album is bursting at the
seams with variety and creativity … the album has a truly
international flavour."
Matt Risley, Groove Guide
****
"No second solo problems for [Grenell] judging by
this excellent album… To quote Spikey Tee you'll fall in
'Love, Love' with this album with each listen."
Vicki
Anderson, Christchurch Press ****1/2
"Probably the best
Aotearoa release this year, Grenell may be a largely
underground producer but he's one of the shining lights of
his musical generation. More impressive work from a man with
plenty of strings to his bow."
Jeff Neems, Waikato Times
****1/2
"Grenell is a clever writer and talented
producer… It's a nice slice of mood tunes for the end of
the night."
Simon Sweetman, The Dominion Post
