Circle Jerk Preview
Hamilton music’s annual love-in is the focus of ‘Circle Jerk 08‘ a one-off radio show produced by Community Radio Hamilton to air on the station next week.
‘Circle Jerk 08’ will profile this year’s event and the fifteen local acts set to perform – covering the material of other local musicians. Interviews with some of this year’s lineup reflect the diversity of the local scene, including Scott Newth from rock’s Rumpus Room, hip hop artist One Fat Man, and Graeme Cairns of the folk based Big Muffin Serious Band.
The show will also review some of the event’s highlights over the past four years with Circle Jerk originator Mark
Tupuhi, and hear from one of the organisers of this year’s event Richard Swainson. “Circle Jerk is a proven highlight on the Hamilton music calendar, so it’s great to profile the event and support our increasingly diverse local music scene,” says Community Radio Hamilton’s programming director Dannii Vallely. The half-hour programme will be podcast on www.communityradio.co.nz from Monday, 26 May 2008, and broadcast online, on 106.7FM, and 1206AM at the following times: 1pm Monday, 26 May; 9am Wednesday, 28 May; 9pm Thursday, 29 May; and 3pm Saturday, 31 May.
