Show Me Shorts Deadline Looms

Time flies when a deadline looms, and there is now only one month to submit your film for this year’s Show Me Shorts Film Festival.

Show Me Shorts is seeking films between three and thirty minutes long, made within the last three years. All genres are accepted so long as the film has a strong New Zealand or Australian component (i.e. be made in NZ/Oz or have NZ/Oz key creatives). The deadline this year is Monday 7 July.

This is a competitive festival with awards for Best Film, Best Student Film, Atlab Best Technical Contribution and Panavision Special Jury Prize.

Last year the Best Film award went to Kiwis Jeff and Phill Simmonds for ‘A Very Nice Honeymoon’. The previous year the winner was Australian Jannine Barnes for ‘Ray’. “While we’ve already received a substantial number of entries we’re always on the lookout for outstanding films,” says Festival Director Gina Dellabarca.

This year’s circuit will include some smaller regional cinemas as well as a full week in each of New Zealand’s four main cities. The selected films will be announced in September. Award winners will be announced at the opening ceremony at Auckland’s Academy Cinemas on Thursday 6 November.

Full entry details can be found at www.showmeshorts.co.nz.
