Kiwi Kids Get On Their Bikes With Kellogg's And Variety

Kellogg's and Variety team up to bring 200 bikes to deserving kids

Auckland, 9 June 2008 - Kellogg's(r) New Zealand announced today that it is partnering with Variety - the Children's Charity, by donating 200 bikes to the Variety Bikes for Kids Programme.

The Variety Bikes for Kids Programme, now in its sixth year, rewards children throughout the country with a brand new bike. Deserving children from low decile schools are nominated by their teachers to receive a bike.

The partnership between Kellogg's(r) and Variety aims to encourage kids to get outdoors and be active.

During November and December, the partnership will bring 200 bikes to kids around the country, and will celebrate keeping Kiwi kids active, while rewarding our young Kiwis' achievements and abilities.

Variety has seen country-wide success with its Bikes for Kids Programme. Last year saw the gifting of new bikes to over 450 deserving children from Auckland to Dunedin.

John Rosair, Managing Director of Kellogg's New Zealand says that partnering with Variety is an amazing opportunity for Kellogg's to be a part of keeping Kiwi kids active all over the country.

"Variety has been a very effective part of helping Kiwi kids reach for their goals and dreams, be that a bike or something bigger. And Kellogg's New Zealand feels privileged to be a part of a great programme alongside a great organisation," says Rosair.

Lorraine Taylor, Variety CEO, says she is delighted that Kellogg's is supporting New Zealand Children through the wonderful donation of 200 bikes for the Bikes for Kids Programme.

"We thank Kellogg's for giving us this opportunity to help Variety give bikes to young New Zealanders who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged. It's great to see kids getting out there and getting active," says Lorraine Taylor.

Bikes for Kids forms a special part of the Kids on the Move Mobility Programme. Each November/December, Variety gives children throughout the country their first bike.

Helping even more Kiwi kids get active, Kellogg's New Zealand will also be running a promotion in specially marked packs of Coco Pops(r) and Sultana Bran(r) for the opportunity to win one of 100 kids bikes.

Throughout New Zealand, Progressive and Foodstuffs Supermarkets have also generously shown their support for Variety and the Kellogg's donation of 200 bikes.
