An exhibition of conspicuous

Opening: Tues 17th June 5.30 – 7pm
Michael is a renowned documentary photographer who spent the first three years of the new millennium obsessing about fridges. A minor change to European law resulted in the cessation of retailer talkback schemes for refrigerators…(You couldn’t trade-in your old fridges!). These goods continued to be sold in records numbers.
The old units, mostly in full
working order, were cast onto the streets. Local Councils
were caught by surprise. Fridges were left in place to
decorate the pavements. Some were cannibalised. Some were
recycled into impromptu seating at bus stops. Some were used
as much needed litter bins, missing from the streets of
London for so many years because of terrorism. Cold War is
the intriguing result of Michael’s
obsession.
