New Zealand Audiences Say I Do – Second-Hand Wedding
Makes One Million This Weekend...
Kiwi Film Second-Hand Wedding will break the $1M mark at the New Zealand Box Office this weekend, after just 5 weeks on screen.
Second-Hand Wedding directed by Paul Murphy and starring Geraldine Brophy, opened on 55 screens across the country on May 15.
The feel good factor of Second-Hand Wedding has seen audiences all over the country fall in love with this non-offensive, every-day colloquial tale.
Distributor, Gordon Adam from Metropolis Films comments this result is “Fantastic, Kiwi audiences are really connecting with this film and to surpass such a box office mark, usually occupied by big blockbusters, proves that audiences are saying Second-Hand Wedding’s heart and charm is worth every penny of the admission price '
Adria Buckton of Trigger Marketing and Publicity comments, “Second-Hand Wedding has been endorsed by media personalities, church leaders, and your neighbor next door. It seems every corner of the community is falling for this film! The overall enthusiasm and passion for this kiwi tale has been astounding - the film is refreshing and deserves this success”
Second-Hand Wedding joins just 6 other local titles to reach $1M since 2001. It's in fine company with some of the countries most loved films, including Whale Rider, Sione's Wedding and The World's Fastest Indian.
Second-Hand Wedding continues to prove it is the little film that could.
