John Clarke – the legendary satirist and
creator of the iconic cow cockie from Taihape left New
Zealand in the late 1970’s leaving behind a generation of
Fred Dagg fans wondering what ever happened to ….?
Mate, he’s been living in Melbourne for over 30 years. He
is revered in Australia as the leading satirist of his
generation. From his original Fred Dagg character to all his
current creations, the master of satire was inducted into
the prestigious Hall of Fame at the landmark 50th Annual TV
WEEK Logie Awards (May 2008) for his esteemed contribution
to the Australian television industry, through his work as a
performer, writer and director.
He is in fine company as past Hall of Fame recipients include Paul Hogan (1987), Bryan Brown (1989), Jack Thompson (1995), Garry McDonald (1997), Graham Kennedy (1998) and Steve Irwin (2007).
John’s collaborations over the years with Australia and New Zealand’s leading performers have produced comedy magic and his writing career has included the drama series ANZAC’s to acclaimed mockumentary The Games about the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
