Second Hand Wedding Makes No. 7 Of All Time
Pork Pies And Wedding Cake… Paul Murphy Joins Father
Geoff In Top 10 Kiwi Films Of All Time!
Kiwi Film Second-Hand Wedding sails past the $1.6M mark at the NZ Box office this weekend, making it the Number 7 entry in the Top Ten Kiwi Films of all time!
Second-Hand Wedding directed by Paul Murphy opened across the country on May 15. It has nudged fellow film-maker and father Geoff Murphy’s film Goodbye Pork Pie out of the Number 7 spot, which was a national hit in 1981.
The feel good factor of Second-Hand Wedding has seen audiences all over the country fall in love with this non-offensive, every-day colloquial tale, which has now deservedly taken its place in New Zealand Film history.
Distributor, Gordon Adam from Metropolis Films comments “Second-Hand Wedding has been seen by 200,000 people nationwide, from big screen multiplexes to small town stand alone cinemas. It’s humorous story-telling, and absence of sex, swearing and violence has charmed Kiwi cinema goers. Both Father and Son have delivered iconic Kiwi stories that make us laugh at ourselves”.
Adria Buckton of Trigger Marketing and Publicity comments, “Second-Hand Wedding has cemented its place in history as one of the best kiwi films of all time – an accolade it well deserves. Being side by side with family, must be a huge thrill for the Murphy’s”
