Yet another World Record for Kiwi Freediver.

Wellington Freediver Dave Mullins has yet again, put his name next to another Freediving World Record in an amazing dive of 213m in front of International judges.

Mullins record dive involved him swimming underwater on a single breath of air a total of 8 and a half times of the 25m pool using a modified breaststroke style stroke and kick. Mullins, who recounts the dive as "slow and controlled" completed the dive in 4:03seconds.

"The dive was reasonably comfortable, and despite having the urge to breath from around the 50m mark, which did ease off around 125m, the dive was very controlled. While knowing that I could have pushed the distance out another 10m I made the decision to come up to ensure my limits were not pushed too far, I wasn't aware at that stage that I was right on the World Record" said a jubilant Mullins who now has a total of 3 World Records to his name.

Grant Graves, International A Grade Judge, who has been brought over to New Zealand for the Wellington Winter Champs to officiate the world record dives commented on the dive today by Mullins "another amazing performance from Dave, and I am more than certain that there is plenty more to come"

Last September Mullins, who is sponsored by Cressi smashed the existing "Dynamic Apnea" freediving world records twice in an event held in Wellington and also holds a spearfishing world record, achieved 4 years ago when he landed a 156kg Striped Marlin.

Mullins is due to leave for Egypt in 2 weeks time, to compete in the World Champs in Sharm El Sheik. The New Zealand team (sponsored by ORCA ) is made up of double world record holder Mullins and William Trubridge, Ant Williams and Kerian Hibbs and are hot favorites for the event. " Based on competition results and personal best records, our team is the strongest team announced for the event and is expected to do very very well" says AIDA NZ Judge and member of the selection team, Fran Rose.

The competition which is being held at Naenae Olympic pool on Wednesday 13th , and again at Porirua Pool Thursday Evening is expecting to see more World Records challenged in both locations.
