Body Art From Abroad
A note from Mem’s recent travels to Seeboden, Austria, where she has successfully showcased the NZ Body Art Awards Event at the World Body Painting Festival, creating much interest with our counterparts.
The world festival of Body
Painting was a great opportunity to network with some of the
most wonderful body painters and artists from around the
world.
Meeting people such as Jinny, Alex Hansen, Phillipo, Bella Volen was a great inspiration and a fabulous opportunity to learn new tricks and watch artists at work.
I met up with one of our own sponsors, Michael de Prycker and his family from Fantasy Worldwide, and had a great opportunity to talk with him about other events happening around the world, products that are on the market and opportunities to promote body art
The most stimulating thing I have realized from this trip was being involved in a large community of artists who are so passionate about this art form. I have been fortunate to gather and share experiences and passions.
And of course there is the Body Art Circus Ball where we have the opportunity to view fashion combined with body art as well as Art Ballet, a Polish group that body paint and perform on stage.
Everyone is so interested in the NZ Body Art
Awards and I took delight in showing off the photos from the
2008 NZBAA. People where extremely impressed especially with
our artists and a bit blown away with the novice entries.
Many of our novices in NZ are up there with a lot of the
artists that collect from around the world at this
festival.
Of course I also meet many people who's aim
and ambition is to work in NZ for our world famous Weta
Workshops.
I studied the judging process and the event in general so that I am able to keep upgrading our own Awards and develop ideas that will improve our general running of the event. We are doing very well from my observations from this event that has been running for 11 years.
Thank you all for your support and energy that you have given me. A special thanks to Arts Venture and Bittermoon who made it possible for me to attend the event.
