World Record Attempt Tumbles into Town
Next Tuesday, 16 September, 12 local tumbling stars from Rotorua’s Mid Island GymSports Club (MIGS) will attempt a world record to travel the greatest distance in 60 minutes forward rolling.
If successful in the forward rolling challenge, the team will make it into the Book of Guinness World Records.
Catherine Clark, GymSports New Zealand CEO, says the MIGS team are using the world record attempt as a way to promote the upcoming Indo Pacific Trampoline and Tumbling Championships.
“Come down to Rotorua Events Centre on Tuesday and support the MIGS team in their record attempt. The attempt is a great way to warm up for the Indo Pacific Championships which are also taking place at the Events Centre from 13-19 October.”
“This is the first time New Zealand has been selected to hold the Champs and we are very excited about the opportunity to host more than 300 trampoline and tumbling athletes from 7 countries.”
The sport of Trampoline in New Zealand comes under the umbrella of GymSports NZ and the Championships are being sponsored by Rotorua District Council, the Bay Trust, Rotorua Energy Trust and Sport & Recreation New Zealand (SPARC).
