Call for Volunteers
Takitimu Festival
12 to 16 NOVEMBER 2008
Want to know how you can get invaluable work experience, you’ve got some spare time, you’re handy with your hands or you like talking to people ?
The project manager of the Takitimu Festival, held
in Hastings from 12 to 16 November, is looking for
volunteers to play an important role in the festival team
structure.
“Volunteers are the face, arms and legs of our festival”, says Traci Tuimaseve “They are the people you can ask for assistance and provide vital help behind the scenes. They will truly make the festival a total community experience for our thousands of visitors.”
Volunteers will perform a wide variety of tasks ranging from photography, artist liaison, hospitality facilitators, supervisors, drivers, festival ambassadors, kiddies helpers, and much more.
In addition to learning how a festival operates, all volunteers will receive health and safety training prior to the event weekend. Volunteers also receive a goodie bag with lots of cool stuff including sponsor products and snack food. On-site camping is available for out of town volunteers.
“The perfect volunteer is someone who enjoys having a good time and giving something back to the community”, says Traci. “We welcome help from all quarters, Maori and Pakeha, young and those who are retired. It’s a great way to make new friends”
If this sounds like something you’d like to get involved with, all you need is drop a line to peneadamhati@hotmail.com.
The Takitimu Festival will bring together over 1500 performers and artisans and thousands of descendants of the Takitimu canoe from the South Pacific and New Zealand.
