Winning these awards has put this charming New Zealand film back in the spotlight in Wellington, where the story was based and the film was shot. Reading Coastlands have announced they will bring SECOND-HAND WEDDING back for a very limited second season. It will be screening at 1 o’clock each day, with night session on Sunday and Monday.
Gordon from Metropolis Films comments “It is a true testament to this little film that could. It just keeps going and going! The second season at Coastlands gives patrons living in Wellington who missed out on seeing SECOND-HAND WEDDING the chance to see this incredible film on the big screen. It is also a chance for those who fell in love with the film first time round to see it a second, or third time!”
Geraldine Brophy shines in her role as bargain-hunting junkie, Jill. Most remembered for her role as Moira Crombie from New Zealand’s best loved drama Shortland Street. Multi talented Geraldine is also heavily involved in the New Zealand theatre scene with directing, producing and acting. In her subsequent 22 years in the industry she has played more than 150 roles on stage.
Holly Shanahan plays Jills daughter Cheryl (named after the icon NZ song Cheryl Moana Marie) who is planning her wedding to partner Stew. Holly says of her role, “Cheryl starts off as a fairly simple, down to earth woman but as the story unfolds she has to confront issues she’s had since childhood. Whether she is equipped to deal with them and how she does, is what makes her character challenging.”
