Montana And The Golden Mile
On Monday 22 September Wellington’s golden mile gains added lustre with the Montana WearableArt Wander in central Wellington. The mapped freedom walk featuring twenty award-winning costumes from past shows is one of the celebrations for the 20th Anniversary of the Montana World of WearableArt™ Awards (WOW®).
Montana Sponsorship Manager Glen Candy notes that the Montana-sponsored event continues to make waves in the capital.
“Montana is a pioneer and a path breaker in domestic and international markets and so is WOW®. The show is an annual demonstration of the capacity kiwis have for innovation and resourcefulness and every year its story telling takes on new dimensions.
The Montana WearableArt Wander lets people appreciate just how clever the designers are. When you see the costumes up close you begin to understand their construction and the lavish detail involved in their making. We’re very pleased to be partnering with WOW® and Wellington City Council to make the new initiative happen. “
Montana WOW® Awards Artistic Director Suzie Moncrieff says she is delighted that people will have the chance to see such creativity close-up.
“It is a great way to celebrate 20 extraordinary shows and to show Wellingtonians and their visitors some of the great costumes that have featured during Montana WOW’s history.”
Colourful postcards featuring the 20 costumes on display and providing a map of their locations are available in many places around the CBD including the Wellington City Council offices in Wakefield Street.
The annual non-stop spectacular Montana WOW® Awards Show, a world-class event on New Zealand’s creative calendar begins Thursday 25 September 2008 at the TSB Bank Arena in Wellington.
