Media Release – October 9, 2008

ANZ Championship appoints new General Manager

Experienced sport executive, Anthony Everard has been appointed General Manager of the ANZ Championship to oversee the highly successful trans-Tasman competition’s next phase of development.

The Trans-Tasman Netball League Board (TTNL) announced today Everard would take up the role on October 27 and be based at the ANZ Championship offices in Melbourne and Auckland.

Everard has an impressive background in sponsorship, marketing and strategic planning in Australian sport management, including nine years at Cricket Australia and as Group Manager - Marketing and Communications with the 2007 World Swimming Championships Corporation.

Chair of the ANZ Championship Board, Noeleen Dix said Everard’s proven leadership record, stakeholder management, commercial expertise and visionary outlook were the ideal skill set to build on the success of the competition’s inaugural year.

“The first year of the ANZ Championship was a great success, bringing together the best netball players in the world and attracting strong corporate, broadcast and spectator support,” Dix said.

“Anthony’s strong background in marketing, major events and with a leading national sporting body will be a huge asset as the ANZ Championship enters its second year and attempts to build on its successes in 2008.”

Everard said he was looking forward to the challenge of leading the ANZ Championship’s future development.

“The league was an outstanding success in its debut year and we will look to capitalise on that by bringing new audiences to the game and further establishing the league as an attractive entertainment option,” he said.
