Plunketline Deserves Public Funding

The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) is welcoming the announcement from the National Party that they would provide funding for Plunketline if they are the next government.

Plunketline is part of the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society. “As a well respected and extremely valued community based organisation it is appropriate that public funding is provided to ensure the ongoing provision of this important service,” Geoff Annals, NZNO CEO said.

“The well-child services that Plunket provides are renowned in the community. Plunketline is one of a suite of such services,” Annals said.

“Plunket has funded the Plunketline service out of its already stretched resources. It would be fantastic for the service to receive the funding that it deserves so that it is best able to meet the needs of our families and communities.”

“Public funding of health services is vital to the health of New Zealanders and NZNO is waiting to hear all the parties health policies particularly with respect to publically funded services.”
