Govett-Brewster Art Gallery auction raises $30,000
The Friends of the
Govett-Brewster Art Gallery have raised $30,000 following a
spirited fundraising auction.
More than 160 attended The Lifestyles of the Rich and Shameless Auction held at the Gallery last Friday night.
The popular auction saw dozens of satisfied supporters walk away with packages that money just can’t buy.
They included VIP tickets to WOMAD, an exclusive seat watching TV One News go live from the TVNZ control room, a behind the scene tour of Te Papa and the Art in Auckland package which included luxury accommodation and an exclusive tour and expert advice from Webb’s, New Zealand’s premier auction house.
Organised by the Friends of the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, the funds raised at this year’s auction will benefit the progress towards establishing the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery collection online.
President of the Friends, Chris Herlihy, says the 46 auction packages generated a lot of interest.
“Everyone was in the spirit. It was a great night. This is the second year we've held the auction and it's proving very successful.”
The auction was supported by 57 local and national businesses.
“The support from these businesses was overwhelming and we are very grateful for their outstanding encouragement especially in this economic climate,” says Mr Herlihy.
The Friends of the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery currently has more than 500 members locally, nationally and internationally.
