Arctic Monkeys To Debut New Album In Wellington
ARCTIC MONKEYS will debut their new material to unsuspecting fans in, of all places, a town hall in New Zealand.
Well, they were unsuspecting. Sorry to ruin the surprise.
ALEX TURNER and Co are still putting the finishing touches to their as-yet-untitled third album.
But they want to test it at the gig in Kiwi capital Wellington on January 13, well away from the prying ears of London critics.
A source
said: “It was supposed to be a secret.
“The lucky
few fans in Wellington were going to arrive thinking they
were attending a little warm-up gig before the Big Day Out
festival kicks off in Auckland on January 16.
“But, in
fact, they will be the first to hear the new album. The lads
have basically finished it.
Master
“They just need
to return to the studio to apply some finishing touches
early next year.”
The Arctics have been working with
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE frontman JOSH HOMME, so prepare for
a heavy-sounding collection.
Monkey rhythm master MATT
HELDERS has been leading from the back on some seriously
noisy tunes.
The release will bring the Sheffield heroes’ total to three albums and an EP in just over three years — impressive going.
Plus frontman Alex has fitted
in a cracking album with side-project THE LAST SHADOW
PUPPETS.
If their previous form is anything to go by,
Wellington Town Hall will need a new roof on January 14.
