Rhythm and Vines opens its gates!
Rhythm and Vines opens its gates to three days of music!
“TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE”
Thousands of music lovers rolled into Waiohika Estate yesterday to take part in the biggest New Year’s music festival event in the country. The music kicked off early on with the likes of The Constituents, The Suns of IO and The Mystery Jets. During the day Kiwi favourites Liam Finn, Anna Coddington and Katchafire also took centre stage, while the big acts on the night were Santogold, The Kooks and Franz Ferdinand.
Festival Founder Hamish Pinkham is pleased with the first
day of his new look event.
“It was great to see so many
people here early today and ready for the full three days of
music. Everyone seemed amped about the line-up and even the
rain in the afternoon didn’t deter the fans. There was a
good spread of people around all 5 stages right through the
day and with so many musical genres on the go, there was
something appealing to everyone. We even had an English lad
proposing to his Kiwi girlfriend on the main stage, it was
another first for Rhythm and Vines,” says Pinkham.
Over the three days Rhythm and Vines will play home to more than 20,000 music lovers and over 1000 onsite campers who will be treated to a multi-day international music festival event spectacular! The 3 days of music includes more than 140 national and international acts, 5 stages, chill out zones, pyrotechnics, artistic performances, food & market stalls, and a 25 metre waterslide!
Mystery Jets
band member and performer Kai Fish was impressed with the
festival.
“This is the most beautiful festival site
I’ve ever been to. It reminds me of Glastonbury meets Fuji
Rock Festival, and New Zealanders are really as friendly as
people say. I’ve had a great time, I’ll definitely come
back! And I love the local Gisborne wine,” he says.
One day tickets are still available for the 30th and 31st December go to www.rhythmandvines.co.nz
