The search to find the new Miss Drag Wellington takes place on Sunday 18 January 2009 when Wellington's Next Top Drag Queen hits The Garden Club on Dixon Street. The event takes place on the Sunday night of Wellington Anniversary Weekend since Monday will be a public holiday.

The event will crown the first Miss Drag Wellington in two years seeing Ellie Kat finally hand over the title she won in 2007. It will be hosted by Aaron Halliwell and Andy Boreham of Camp FM - the capital's hot new gay radio show. Opening the show will be Wellington's most high-profile queens, The Glamazons, with an all new video/live performance spectacular.

A string of high-profile sponsors have been ringed in including Twinings Lady Grey Tea, Warner Music, The Guava Tree, and Thin Lizzy.

The winner will be decided by a mix of audience vote and judges so you MUST be there to cast your vote. Special guest judges include Victoria of The Glamazons, Sparkle On Sunday's Steven Oates, and New Zealand Idol winner Rosita Vai.

Doors will open at 8pm, with the event officially kicking off at 9pm. Table seating will be strictly limited, with plenty of standing room also available. A DJ will keep the crowd partying through the night after the show has finished.
